Shout For Stout!

Hey guys and gals, the results are in! The second FBCB member homebrew competition will be for a stout! (Summer stout? Count me in!) Here's just a few names to give some inspiration - "Summer Chocolate", "Melts in your mouth AND your Glass", "Sweaty Stout", "Camp Out Stout', etc etc etc. Get creative!

The full style voting results are:

Stout 33%
Belgian Ale 25%
Brown Ale 24%
Blonde Ale 11%
Steam Beer 7%

We're looking at judging around the beginning of June.  Watch your email for final dates, to enter the competition, and to sign up for judging. The clear winners of the Fly-PA competition were all of our member judges. I can't think of a better way to spend a day than hanging out with experienced beer judges and Flying Bike members, sampling and learning about beer, then picking the best of the bunch! The judging is a great opportunity to learn about beer, and you don't have to have any experience judging beer - you just have to like to drink it!

We'd love to have the winning beer brewed and served locally, but the message we heard from members is "throw another competition! Fly-PA was fun!" We don't yet have a brewery lined up to brew the beer, although we are still working on it and hope to have a brewery on board by the end of the competition.

So fire up your brew kettles and get your dark grains steeping! Brew on!
