What’s up for Tuesday, May 13th?
Intrepid Board Member Kevin reports from last night's event at Pike Brewing:
"Myself and Ashley went to the third annual Thirsty Sisters event at Pike Brewing Company tonight and it was a blast!
I have to say, women are taking this city by storm in the foodie/beer world. We sampled nice brews from Spinnaker Bay, Island Hoppin', and homebrew club Barley's Angels, among others in attendance who we already admire (Stoup, Populuxe, Airways, Peddler, Pike!).
The food samples were incredible, from cheese samples to tender beef brisket, to macaroons and dark chocolate gelato. This event had all of the senses covered. We also sampled a few amazing liquors, highlighted by brovospirits' amaro liquor which is a fantastic blend of flavors and scents. We can't wait to visit one of their recommended local bars to sample some well-made cocktails. All in all a great event, attended by many heavyweights of the local beer scene... Charlie and Rose Anne Finkel (Pike Brewing owners and Seattle beer entrepreneurs), Kendall Jackson (WA Beer Blog), Matt Younts (Seattle Beer Week), and Flying Bike board members! =)"
Tuesday, May 13th - was like any other Tuesday, except...
- It's SUNNY and 80F in Seattle
- It's Seattle Beer Week
- It's Bike to Work month!
If you're exhausted by all this biking and sunshine, you might want to park your bike in the ample parking at Fremont Brewing tonight, where they are hosting "What the Hops??". Get there early and bring your sunscreen, because you know their patio is gonna be crowded today!
Starting at 7pm they will be giving a talk on hops by Ron Britt - their in-house organic hop farmer. Learn how to start and cultivate your own hops, and learn about the Hop industry in Washington State - one of the largest in the world! And look out for board member Mitch Johnson and his PHAT Tire bike! 😉
