Did Someone at this Table Order a Brewing Contest?!

Because we've brought one! That's right folks, we've been working hard to bring together your first Flying Bike Cooperative Brewing contest. The time is nigh - be sure to check your inbox tomorrow for the full details.

The one piece of info I can share at this point is that this contest will not be wide open. It will be for FBC members only, and it will only be one style of beer. "But guys", you say, "I've got a really great (insert the name of your best brew here) but the contest is for (some beer type other than your best brew). What gives?!"

Logistics, mostly. Look, I'm sure that many of you have entered your brews into the various homebrew competitions around. For many of those, you can submit whatever beer you like and it will be judged with all the rest. For our competition, we want to seek out the best Flying Bike member (insert name of beer for the contest). We want to build a recipe book for when we build your brewery, and we want to run these contests with some regularity. We've got some great ideas about how to involve all our members in this process, be they beer brewers or just beer lovers. We want to prove these ideas out, hence we are starting small and simple. Crawl, walk, run, then fly. (I'm assuming all along we're making great beer!)

Rest assured guys and gals, even if this isn't the contest for your (insert them name of your best beer that I would sincerely dearly love to try), we absolutely want to give your beer its due. We are planning on having more contests, so chances are we will have a contest for your beer. We aren't above doing a seasonal contest, or a contest specifically for those "out there" beers that generally aren't seen on store shelves, or even a "Bring Your Best" free-for-all. We want to capture that spirit and inventiveness that comes naturally to homebrewing and homebrewers.

For now though, it will be but one beer to rule them all, one beer to bind them, please don't sue me Tolkien's Estate, I saw all the movies a bunch of times in the theaters.
