Monthly Member Meetup
We've rebranded Beer with the Board as the Monthly Member Meetup - both have alliteration, but there are differences! To understand the changes, you have to understand the thought and history behind Beer with the Board.
It started as a way to interact with our members. At that early point, we had closed board meetings and we weren't yet able to post meeting minutes through our members-only site. Our membership had exploded and we needed a way to interact with our members. We figured a good way to do that was to have regular nights out at a local brewery. It would give us a chance to scope out how other breweries were set up, talk about what we did and didn't like about the places. It was a great time to drink beer with our members and see how they felt about what was happening in FBCB land.
Enter today - we are having open board meetings, we're posting meeting minutes for members, we're having volunteer meetings open to all members. We're getting better about communicating on Facebook. These are all steps in the right direction, which is towards interacting with members and giving everyone the opportunity to be involved and participate in what's going on.
To those ends, the Monthly Member Meetup (or M3 ((or M-cubed for you mathy types))) is a better name. Think of this as less of an official meeting, and more as an excuse to go grab a pint at the bar. Maybe a chance to try a bar you haven't been to before. Bring some friends, let them see first hand what a co-op really means - it's about creating a community; in our case, that community is focused on everything beer. Once a month, we can get together to do what people have been doing for a long long time - have a chat and a pint.
The first ever M3 is this Thursday, 4/26/12, at the new Lake City Elliott Bay at 12537 Lake City Way NE
Seattle, WA 98125. We'll be starting around 6:30 and going until we decide to leave!
