The Big Five-OH-OH (well really Five-OH-ONE)

 In Blog, Uncategorized

Hey everybody, there's a few more reasons to drink a celebratory beer! To start right off - we're over 500 members! Five Hundred and One, as of this writing. That's good stuff folks. That's 500 other people that think it's a great idea to have a member-owned brewery, and have taken the plunge into brewery ownership. Raise a pint in celebration Seattle!

Five hundred and one members is a pretty big deal, and we should all celebrate that. However, we still need to double our membership to build the brewery. Don't fret though! We're putting together an incentive program for members - if you refer others and they join the co-op, you'll get cool stuff! More details will be coming shortly, but rest assured, the swag is dynamite! We're also lining up events to take us through the summer. These will be fun for our current members and give us a chance to talk to people about why we think Flying Bike is such a great idea and get others to join. We'll be updating this blog and Facebook as those events are solidified, so you will know where we'll be! Have an idea for a cool event we should attend? Drop us a line at volunteers@flyingbike.coop and let's talk!

In other news, we're sponsoring Seattle Beer Week this year! The poorly named "week" (it's 10 days) starts this Thursday, May 10th. There are loads and loads of events the entire "week" (10 days). It's usually hard to choose just what to do each day! Our big shindig is this Saturday, May 12th. We're sponsoring the Tour de Pints! Our members Mitch, Kevin, and Danius planned the route, gave it a test run, and even got the bars and breweries along the way to offer up some great prizes! Props to you guys, you rock!

Show up at Pike Brewery at 11AM this Saturday, with your bike and your helmet and ready to ride! We'll be stopping by several bars and breweries as we bike 20+ miles over the course of the day. You can like it on Facebook too!

For those that can't participate in the ride this year, you can meet up with us at the finish line: The Wurst Place! We should be there around 6:30 or 7. We'll be raffling some shirts and pint glasses, so come on down and celebrate the end of the Tour de Pints 2012! For this and any other beer week events you attend, please wear your member t-shirt and get a picture of it! Post it to our Facebook page!

We also want to give a shout out to the Bicycle Alliance of Washington - they partnered with Schooner Exact to make a bike-themed IPA (where've we heard that one before?!) that benefits the Bike Alliance! As we all know, you CAN support a good cause and drink at the SAME TIME! What a great way to do both things on what is looking like a great weather day in Seattle!
